Description

Torbreck is an icon of modernist subtropical design and one of Brisbane's most significant residential buildings. Designed by Aubrey H. Job and Robert P. Froud and constructed between 1959 and 1961, it was Queensland's first company-titled multi-storey residential building, its Tower and Garden Blocks introducing a new vision of higher-density living to a city dominated by suburban expansion.

Visitors are invited inside for a rare opportunity to explore a selection of apartments. Tours run in three groups, with each group visiting two allocated apartments: one with interiors largely unchanged since construction, and one contemporary renovation, either by KIN Architects, Vokes and Peters, or Suzanne Bosanquet Architect. Apartment allocations vary by tour time and cannot be selected. At least one apartment in each tour is led by an architect.

Group 1 visiting 6A and 11D (renovation by Vokes and Peters)  — 9:00am | 10:00am | 11:00am

Group 2 visiting 6E (renovation by KIN Architects) and 10D — 9:20am | 10:20am | 11:20am

Group 3 visiting 01 Garden Block and 13FG (renovation by Suzanne Bosanquet Architect) — 9:40am | 10:40am | 11:40am

Please note the Tower Block observation area is not included due to maintenance.
