Event description

About the Workshop

You are invited to attend a two day workshop that teaches a framework for thinking when responding to the needs and interests of people who are at risk of being devalued. The workshop will explore social devaluation and its consequences for people who are marginalised and how Social Role Valorization (SRV) can be used as a means of addressing those experiences of devaluation.

Participants will be asked to consider and discuss how individuals, human services and society contribute to the marginalisation of such people. The workshop will inspire participants to imagine the good things of life and consider how we may support people who have been denied so many beneficial features of the good things of life to have better lives and greater involvement in their communities. Completion of this workshop enables you to attend the SRV practicum, called PASSING. You can watch a video of John introducing the training here.

About John

John Armstrong has had a long career in many human service roles, the last thirty as a human service consultant, evaluator and trainer to people, families and organisations across Australia, NZ and Ireland and other parts of the world. His work is underpinned by the knowledge and application of Social Role Valorisation (SRV) which provides a practice framework for successfully transforming the lives of people who are, or at risk of being, devalued by their communities. John may be assisted in this workshop by an up and coming new trainer.
