I’m Séverine Coulanges, and I love dance and movement. I love teaching and helping people feel more joyful, connected and at home in their bodies.

I began teaching Brazilian dance styles in 2007 and discovered Kizomba and Semba in 2014. Since then, these dances have become a deeply meaningful part of my life. I’ve continued learning from teachers, artists and masters around the world through workshops, festivals and ongoing study, with my mentor Eddy Vents being an important part of that journey.

I first travelled to Angola in 2024 and have now been three times, spending time learning from Angolan teachers, dancers and artists in Luanda. Each visit has deepened my appreciation for the history, richness and living traditions behind Kizomba and Semba.

Today, I’m the founder of Coração do Kizomba Academy in Brisbane, where I teach Kizomba and Semba, organise events and create opportunities for people to learn, dance and discover more about these beautiful dances and the culture behind them.
