Tracing Nature - A Collaborative Workshop in the Gardens
Event description
Tracing Nature
A Collaborative Workshop in the Gardens
Join artists-in-residence Libby Derham and Mieke van den Berg for a workshop that responds to the natural rhythms of the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens through sound, mark making, and installation.
Throughout their two-week residency, Libby and Mieke have immersed themselves in the sensory tapestry of the gardens, listening to birdsong, tracing the movement of water, observing the shelter of trees, and recording these fleeting impressions. This workshop invites you to step into that process.
Participants will experiment with both wet and dry mediums, from fluid watercolour to expressive graphite and charcoal, while tuning into the soundscape of the gardens. Together, we’ll explore how listening can guide mark making, and how individual responses can come together to form a temporary site-specific installation.
The workshop is process-based, exploratory, and accessible to all skill levels. It’s about slowing down, noticing the details, and making visible and audible connections between people and place.
