Due to the forecast weather conditions, TRACTION Melbourne has been postponed to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants and leave a positive impact on the park.

TRACTION — Trail Action

Join us at Yarra Bend Park for TRACTION, an opportunity to give back to the trails and come together with the trail-loving community. At this event, our Trail Action will be picking up rubbish, which is sadly abundant in this popular patch of bush. 

Over two hours, we’ll pick up rubbish along the trails and through the bush, learn more about the park and meet new members of the community. All of the necessary equipment will be provided, as well as refreshments afterwards.

This is a plastic-free event, so please bring your own reusable water bottle and cup. Please wear appropriate exercise gear, closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate gear (raincoat, hat, etc)

This event will take place on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri people.  We acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of this place, and are grateful for the ongoing care they have shown to Country. Whilst on Country, we commit to treating the land, sky and water with the same respect they have shown since time immemorial. Always was, always will be, Wurundjeri Country.

TRACTION combines two ideas: trail and action. It invites all trail users to actively care for the places we enjoy, whether we visit them every day in our local community or occasionally further afield. By leaving trails better than we found them, we help protect the environments that make these places special.

Through the TRACTION program, we invite the community to take simple, practical action: trail clean-ups, caring for the environment, and building awareness so we can continue enjoying parks and wild places while limiting our impact.

Well-maintained trails allow us to explore further, for longer, and safely — helping both people and nature thrive.
