TRACTION Sydney
Description
Join us for TRACTION — Community Trail Action in the heart of Sydney!
We’re bringing the community together to help care for the trails we love to explore. At this free TRACTION event you can roll up your sleeves and help tidy local trails, hear from environmental leaders about local conservation, and connect with others who care about caring for the trails we spend so much time enjoying and exploring.
At this event we’ll be working with the Centennial Parklands Association to help with habitat restoration, through weeding, mulching and planting native plants. We’ll hear from local Rangers about the Aboriginal cultural significance of the area, the importance of freshwater to its diverse plant and animal life, and the impact volunteers have had in keeping these Parklands a thriving ecological sanctuary.
After getting our hands dirty, we’ll come together for a coffee and a croissant. Family-friendly and dogs are welcome (on-lead).
ABOUT
At For Wild Places, we believe in connecting the community with tangible ways to help nature thrive. As park and trail users, we all benefit from well-maintained trails — helping protect the critters, plants and ecosystems that surround them.
TRACTION combines two ideas: trail and action. It invites all trail users to actively care for the places we enjoy, whether we visit them every day in our local community or occasionally further afield. By leaving trails better than we found them, we help protect the environments that make these places special.
Through the TRACTION program, we invite the community to take simple, practical action: trail clean-ups, caring for the environment, and building awareness so we can continue enjoying parks and wild places while limiting our impact.
Well-maintained trails allow us to explore further, for longer, and safely — helping both people and nature thrive.
