Traders Open For All Workshop
Event description
"Imagine going to a local café or shop where everyone is welcome. The facilities are easily accessible for people with mobility issues, the attitudes of staff and community members are welcoming and communications like signage, menus, digital presence and verbal communication are inclusive of everyone. Inclusion is not just about people with disability, it is for all people; for those with prams, the elderly and temporary and invisible disability. We all benefit from better inclusion". - Brotherhood of St Laurence.
The Traders Open For All Workshop will give businesses a better insight into how accessibility can help shape the community and encourage more patronage from far and wide. We will share findings from an accessibility study recently undertaken in a local retail precinct and provide useful hints and tips on how to make small but impactful changes to your business in a cost-effective way.Â
We will help debunk some myths around disability and hear firsthand how businesses can benefit and make a name for themselves within the community, as being open and welcoming for all.Â
Our panel of speakers are:Â
Nadia Mattiazzo - Local resident and CEO of Women with Disabilities Victoria
Kelly Bolton - Brotherhood of St Laurence
Ngoc Autran - Access ConsultingÂ
Morning tea will be served on the day.Â
