TRAFFIC JAM - Parked @ Garden Lounge Newtown
Event description
Do you love traffic?
Playing music with your friends in the outdoors?
Does the roar of peak hour traffic on King street sound like music to your unrefined ears?
Then you’ll love TRAFFIC JAM…
The marvelous new concept of covid safe entertainment, allowing you the audience to enjoy the comfort of the indoors where there’s chairs and fans, while the performers brave the elements in the mystic outdoors of King Street Newtown on the back of Gene's truck.
Buckle in for the jam of the day. See us heckle innocent passer-by’s, comedically appropriate ill-timed engine brakes, and play our classics you all know and love.
There will also be chairs outside and plenty of cold beers and toasties to keep everyone entertained.
Featuring performances from:
Anita & The Monkeys - She's like Judy Garland with a Tom Waits problem. Vast musical influences & commitment to madness manifest in dissonance, unconventional form, theatrical delivery, over-reliance on the I,IV,V progression, and whimsical comedy. Singing songs of debauchery, depression & complete fiction. Come along to hear her sing a song that could be about you...
Gene Gibson - Watch his hair move with undulating grace as he plays a captivating repertoire of original songs inspired by the great classic songwriters, the inevitable pain of existence, and medicinal psychedelics. Swoon as he strikes a Gminor7b5 and reminisce on your failed romances and time spent drunk in foreign cities.
Matías - Punk poet Matias is steadily developing a cult following in the inner west. Recently published author in his hometown, he's a man of many lives, many wives, and always shrouded in muscle shirt and mystery.
Marie & Mischa - Old-time country crooners come together with harmonies so smooth angels in cowboy hats descend from the heavens to roll your cigarette and put it in your mouth too. C'mon baby let em light your fire..
Troy Zarb - With a voice so cool and husky it makes you want to take up smoking. Troy knows how to put on a show and can write a bloody mean song too.
Jordan Kenny - Dreamboat Jordan Kenny is breaking hearts and conventions. Come buy him a beer now before he's famous and forgets about us the little shit.
Need to know:
As always prize for worst dressed and dirtiest feet. Guest are encouraged to bring their parking fines for ritualistic burning but please - leave the car at home.
A traffic jam is guaranteed. There is limited parking available at the event, we are not even sure we will get one, as such kick-off time is tentative.
Getting there:
The nearest stations at almost equal distance are St Peters and Newtown, so perhaps you could have a race with your friends. Anyone who declares themselves to me the winner of such a race will receive an honorary parking fine of $110.
So how do you spread the jam?..
- nobody asked. Tickets are pay-what-you-feel and will directly support the artists playing at the event and their dogs. You may redistribute your wealth through any of the following mediums:
Humanitix - Click the ticket button to the right and select the amount you would probably waste on drugs anyway.
Paypal - Donations of any amount can be made in just a few clicks here.
QR Code – Scan the code to make a donation of your choice. This special code will also be made accessible on a sandwich board or something on the day. Marvelous what they can do these days.
Traffic puns - will also be accepted as payment on the door, provided I have not thought of them already.
