Event description

Do you love traffic?

Listening to music in the outdoors?

Does the roar of peak hour traffic on King street sound like music to your unrefined ears?

Then you’ll love TRAFFIC JAM…

The marvellous new concept of COVID safe entertainment, where the performers play outside, so more people can sit inside. Enjoy the comfort of the indoors and footpath where there’s chairs and fans, while the performers brave the elements in the mystic outdoors of King Street Newtown, on the back of Gene's truck.

We're back with a line up that sure to stop traffic so buckle your self in for a terrafic jam. Watch us heckle innocent passer-by’s, comedically appropriate ill-timed engine brakes, and play our classics you all know and love.

You can expect: chairs, plenty of cold beer, topless women, fireworks, a mechanical bull, street dogs, smiling babies, a surprise saxophone cameo, some guy you haven’t seen in ages, mini golf, kazoos – you really  cant rule anything out at these things...

Featuring performances from:

Clique Petite – loves feet. Me too.

romæo - Cold Brewed experimental art pop made from the freshest bedroom produce. With recently released single ‘Stare” already making waves on triple J and Fbi - you dont want to miss this special acoustic stripped-back set joined by Matt Sitas and Kiri.

Jordan Kenny - Dream boat Jordan Kenny is breaking hearts and conventions. Come buy him a beer now before he's famous and forgets about us the little shit.

Chris Neto - Is it a bird, is it a plane, is it the ghost of Jeff Buckley... With voice flying high and the mood getting low, Chris Neto can sure put on a show. He’s worked with industry giants Hannah Joy and Tim Fitz from Middle Kids on debut single “Bitter Beer, Sweet Wine” and it’s every bit as intoxicating as it sounds.

Trash Springfield - She's like Jim Hendrix if he was a hot girl and played guitar and wrote cool songs too. Need I say more...

Bobby Bowring - Its Xanax, spandex, alcohol and cigarettes; Master mind behind the legendary Jim Morrison diet, Bobby Bowring sounds like the love child of Stephin Merritt, Morrissey and Elvis Presley if he grew up to look like Robert Plant. Love this shit.

Cassy Judy - Prince meets Aussie comedy with generous dollops of comedy. She's the creative mind behind the hugely successful Trans Girls Calendar Project and Video, featured by Humans of Newtown and Sydney Mardi Gras - raising hundreds of dollars for ACON. Witty tunes weave tales of surfing, life, heartbreak and hilarious songs about body parts and her journey as a Transgender Woman.

Gene Gibson -Watch his hair move with undulating grace while plays his captivating repertoire of original songs inspired by the great classic songwriters, the inevitable pain of existence and medicinal psychedelics. Swoon as he strikes a Gminor7b5 and reminisce on times spent drunk in foreign cities.

Anita & The Monkeys - She's like Judy Garland with a Tom Waits problem. Vast musical influences manifest in dissonance, unconventional form, theatrical delivery, over-reliance on the I, IV, V progression, and whimsical comedy. Come along to hear her sing a song that could be about you...

Matias Punk poet Matias is steadily developing a cult following in the inner west. Recently published author in his hometown, he's a man of many lives, many wives, and always shrouded in muscle shirt and mystery.

Hunter Auzins – Poet, crooner and Newtown doomer, bolder than a headline and darker than your deepest daydreams. Come get haunted by Hunter.

Salmon Engine - Making Lo Fi beats and experimental tunes with samples from the deep. This fish is a real catch.

Party Town! - Band leader James slappin on the vintage synths, this band blends disco fun times with edgy punky thumps.

We will end the night with a jam so stick around to see how the magics born.

Need to know:
As always prize for worst dressed and dirtiest feet and this time you could be going home with your very own gold encrusted nose kazoo. That's right, you gotta be in it to win it.
