Description

Calling all trans men, trans mascs, and non-binary afab people and your partners! Ready for the queer sex ed we never got in school? Looking to connect with your own trans masc pleasure or support a partner’s? This class is for you! Get down to business at this new monthly (1st Wednesdays) series at As You Are, taught by Jay, a sex educator at Lotus Blooms. We’ll talk desires, hang-ups, effects from testosterone and surgeries, safer sex, anatomy, communication, different ways to use toys, and products specifically for us (think pumps, packers, binders, STPs, pack and plays, etc.) for affirming and fun experiences. Whether you are new to queer sex or have been at it a while, this class is designed for trans mascs and our sex partners to connect more deeply with our bodies, desires, and pleasure, regardless of whether or not we're on T or have had any surgeries!

Logistics & Accessibility: Workshop tickets are sold individually and each person attending will need a ticket. You may attend solo or bring partner(s), date(s), or friend(s)! Participants will be able to opt in and out of any exercises or offerings. This space available is on the second floor of As You Are, accessible via one flight of stairs. Apologies if this makes the event inaccessible for you! Jay also teaches classes for Lotus Blooms on the ground level. Looking to host an ASL-interpreted Sex.EdWithJay class? Reach out to Jay directly to come to you!

Jay brings years of teaching and life experience to this workshop designed to help you uncover and explore your desires!! Participants will get a chance to:

  • Hear insight into the differences a partner who is trans masc and/or non-binary may experience in receiving oral and/or penetrative sex (front and/or back hole) and ways to affirm and pleasure that partner!

  • Learn about strapping (strap-on sex), packing, stand-to-pees, FTM strokers, pumps, other gender-affirming practices like binding, and other toys (that while designed for us or not, can work for us in creative ways!)

  • Discuss the ways that testosterone and surgeries may change things for us

  • Journal to guided prompts about past experiences and discoveries, and current interests and desires (with option to share)

  • Discuss the ways we have felt limited by norms and expectations

  • Normalize physical, mental, emotional and sexual health check-ins

  • Discuss the importance and power of language and defining sex and the associated words on our own terms

  • Review basic anatomy of the genitals, anus, and potential pleasure spots

  • Build out fantasies and desires (to potentially share with partners, but only if you want)

  • Ask & receive tailored advice for all your trans masc sex-related questions and concerns

Meet your Educator!

Jay (they/he) from
Sex.EdWithJay, has been an educator for the past 5 years at Lotus Blooms, a health and education-based sex shop in Old Town, Alexandria that centers and celebrates queer and trans joy. Jay is passionate about helping visitors make informed decisions and feel more connected to their bodies and desires. Previously, Jay worked as a DC-licensed massage therapist practicing consent-based bodywork, with a sliding scale prioritizing QTBIPOC. Jay loves any excuse to dance, eat, drink, travel, and spend time with his queer community, his cat, Little Boop, and the ocean.

What to expect from this workshop:

This is an educational and experiential class, but it is not a sexual class. The focus of the content will be on learning about anatomy, pleasure, techniques, props, toys, and getting in touch with your your desire!

You will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with fellow attendees before the event starts, during intermission, and after the class if you wish, but the class itself is not a mixer. We encourage you to enjoy As You Are and come for a meal and/or drink (alcoholic and N/A options available) before or after the class! If you drink before the class, please just do so responsibly so that you can show up in a respectful, learning mindset! Doors open at 6:30. Class starts at 7 and technically ends at 9. Jay will be available till 9:30 for class-related questions. Come early! Stay late!

The Fine (and Enticing) Print

  • Attendees must be over 18 to come to the workshop or the store where Jay works, Lotus Blooms (unless accompanied by a parent).

  • Workshops generally run about 2 hours with a 15 minute break in the middle.

  • Afterwards, attendees will be given a one-time discount code for 15% from Jay to shop online or in-person at Lotus Blooms, 1017 King St., Alexandria, VA 22314.
