Trans Swim 2.0
Description
This event is for transgender, gender diverse, and non-binary people.
Allies are welcome if they are accompanying a Trans person - this could be a partner, parent or best friend.
The pool couldn't handle us... but we are back!
Trans Swim acknowledges this event is being conducted on stolen land. "Melbourne City" is the land of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin. We sincerely pay respect to their Elders past and present. Trans liberation here cannot be separated from First Nations sovereignty. We stand with and honour First Nations trans people, and Sistergirl and Brotherboy communities, whose gender diversity predates colonisation and whose leadership continues to shape our movements. This land, always has, and always will, be Aboriginal Land.
Trans Swim is a safe(r) space for Trans* people to be celebrated, connect and experience euphoria while swimming. We invite all trans, non-binary and gender diverse people to this space. People of all ages, body types and genders, are encouraged to come along and enjoy time in a Trans community space. We hope to create a space where Trans people can swim happily, hang out with friend’s/family and meet new people.
This Trans Swim will be at the Melbourne City Baths at 6:30pm, Saturday the 18th of April. You will have full access to the main pool, sauna and spa, all while being surrounded by fellow Trans bodies.
Remember to listen to your body, make sure you take breaks.
We can't wait to swim with you!
*We use Trans as an umbrella term for transgender, gender diverse, and non-binary people.
