Division/Grade you intend to compete in.
Please refer to the Tournament Grading to assess your ability and determine your grade.
Playing partner's name if already known or if no partner, it is okay to be assigned one.
Current club playing grade
Participants must register to the Grade of the highest rated team player e.g. If Player 1 is B and Player 2 is C, the team must register as B.
Participants who competed in previous editions of TTT in B1 or C1 and placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, it is recommended that you register to A or B grades respectively. This information will be asked during registration.
We are aiming for more teams to partake in A and B grades as C grade usually gets more registrations.
Participants registration will be reviewed with the clubs to confirm the players playing grade.
Depending on the number of registrations per division/grades, Tournament organisers reserve the right to move teams to respective grades based on your:
Club playing grade
Previous participation results and Recommended grade
Teams will be notified of any change prior to the Tournament day.
Format and Scoring
The tournament will consist of 2 stages - Round Robin and Double Elimination Round.
Round Robin
Teams will be grouped into pools in each division/grade. The number of teams per pool will be dependent on the number of registrations in the division/grade
Teams will have to play against other teams in their pool.
The match will be 1 set. First to reach 15 points wins the match.
Pool game results will determine the team ranking, division/grade, and placement on the Double Elimination draw.
The division/grade will be split into the following.
Division 1 - A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2
Division 2 - B1, B2, C1, C2
Double Elimination
Teams are only eliminated after losing two matches.
There will be a winner's bracket for those undefeated, and a loser's bracket for those who have lost once.
The winner of the loser's bracket will have to defeat the winner of the winner's bracket twice to win.
Matches will be played best of 3 sets. Set scoring will be first to 15 points with 2 points lead to win or first team to reach 21 points. This may change during the tournament depending on timing. Teams will be notified of any change.
Final tournament format and scoring will be shared closer to the Tournament Date.
Tournament Grading
Below is the guide that will help you understand which grade you fall into. Please look at these carefully, as we will be asking Club’s to confirm grades that have been entered by its members.
Ref. | Grad. | Def. | Definition |
1 | A+ | Top Player | Top players in all aspects of the game with no discernible weaknesses. Able to play all shots with a high level of consistency and very few unforced errors. |
2 | A | Expert | Strong players are able to play the majority of shots well including steep powerful smashes and strong backhands. These players also make use of deception, possess good footwork, and on-court awareness. |
3 | A- | Advanced | Mastery all shots, exceptional technical ability with advanced tactics and ability to rally, move opponents and create openings to finish points. |
4 | B+ | Upper Intermediate | Good players with a competitive edge, able to rally and employ good tactics. Backhand and court position are potential weaknesses. |
5 | B | Intermediate | Sound players, able to put up a good fight and return most shots. These players have honed their skills but there is often room for improvement. Typically, smashes lack power, backhands are weak, and shots can be inconsistent and inaccurate. |
6 | B- | Lower Intermediate | Ability to execute and receive all badminton shots. Good control of the shuttle with some tactics to exploit opponents’ weaknesses. Can be inconsistent and inaccurate. |
7 | C+ | Strong Social Player | Social players who typically have more than a year of badminton under their belt. Able to execute basic badminton shots and sustain rallies. These players still are working on their control and power. They typically lack footwork and struggle to play backhand shots. |
8 | C | Good Social Player | Ability to execute and receive all badminton shots with basic control and rudimentary use of tactics. |
9 | C- | Novice | Learning to execute and receive the fundamental badminton strokes e.g. low serve, smash & drop shots but can participate in a competitive rally. |
