Description

**We have had such a positive response to this event and have now reached capacity for registrations. However we warmly encourage you to join the waitlist, if you hoping to attend, as places may become available. It will also help us understand interest for running another event like this in the future. With many thanks from Trans Wellbeing.

A gathering for trans kids, trans parents, and their families hosted by Trans Wellbeing.

Come along for a morning of wholesome family activities aimed at primary school aged kids, and their families. A place for parents to connect, in a morning of intergenerational positive representation.

Our time together will include optional structured activities, free play, quiet space, storytelling, and more.

All ages welcome.

Food:

Bring a plate of food to share if you can. We will have morning tea and lunch together. There are also cafes and an organic grocery onsite where you can purchase food as well.

A note for parents on your kid about the event:

We suggest that parents do let their kids know the nature of the event so that they can benefit from the positive intergenerational representation. Parents might say something like, "many of the people here today will be trans. many of the kids and many of the parents. We are just getting together to play and have some yummy food." This is about being together and witnessing other trans people and their families enjoy themselves. There will be subtle trans-positive themes and opportunities to share pronouns but no required disclosure.

Please register all attendees.

Trans Wellbeing Family Day has been made possible by support from Switchboard.

Getting there and accessibility

Parking: There is free carpark on Stewart Street (54 spaces, 2 accessible) as well as spots on Lee Street (13 spaces, 1 accessible). This carpark often fills on weekends at about 9.30am, so coming early is wise. There is additional local street parking nearby on Roberts St and Blyth St.

Public Transport:

Tram: The Number 96 tram to intersection of Blyth and Nicholson Streets (Stop #23). From there, it is a 5-minute walk

Bus: Take bus line 251, 503, or 508, getting off at the Lee St/Roberts St stop, with a 2-minute walk.

Walk/Ride: The Merri Creek bike path and Capital City Trail run right past CERES, making it very easy to access on foot or by bicycle.

Toilet location

Accessible all-gender toilets are located in the main buildings near the entry courtyard and Merri Cafe, as well as near the Red Train

Accessible parking

2 spaces in the Stewart Street car park and 1 space in the Lee St overflow.

Finding the Red Train

Walk east past the community gardens. If in doubt ask others how to find the playground. The Red Train is situated right beside the playground.

Path terrain: Reaching the middle area where the Red Train involves general park pathways with flat earth, grass, or fine gravel, which are generally manageable for strollers and wheelchairs in dry weather. The pathway from Lee St is flattest and paved for longer than the pathway that goes straight through the gardens.

Here is a map with a yellow path indicating the flattest ground towards toward the red train:

On Wurundjeri Country

Trans Wellbeing Family Day will take place on Wurundjeri Country. Trans Wellbeing pays respect to Elders past and present of the Wurundjeri Woi wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, the custodians of the unceded land on which we will gather. First Nations peoples have gathered on this same site for tens of thousands of years.
