Translating design into business language: Lunchtime Learning by DBC
Event description
Translating design into business language
Designers talk the language of design and clients talk the language of business.
Is it any wonder we have translation issues?
This session shows how to analyse a clients’ business and explain design in their language.
It shows the deep analysis needed to prove design adds value for their operations, staff and customers.
Presentation: Thursday 23 February 1 - 2 pm Australian EST (and on-demand)*
This is a one hour presentation sharing practical learnings you can take back to your studio/agency and implement immediately.
We will :
- explain why every business is different
- analyse the unique nine building blocks in each business
- give you the key questions to ask for each of the blocks
- show how to use this information to explain design value
- share a template to analyse your clients’ business model
- outline an action plan to get you started in analysing your clients business model.
*Can’t make the day? Never mind, catch up on the presentation on demand (or watch again) then ask any questions you have on Slack … everyone registered gets 30 day access to a dedicated Slack channel for discussion and Q&A.

Here’s what designers said about our last Lunchtime Learning…
‘I just wanted to say thank-you for the lunchtime presentation today. It was super useful and timely. I'm sure you hear it all the time but we really appreciated seeing dollar figures and real examples. It shone light on issues that we suspected and gave us some really pragmatic and valuable pathways forward. Thanks again - I think you've already helped us out.’ Sam Wearne - Studio ChenChen
