Hear from:

Hon Brent Mickelberg MP | Minister for Transport and Main Roads | Queensland Government

Brent Mickelberg is the State Member for Buderim and Minister for Transport and Main Roads.

Brent is a strong advocate for regional Queensland and ensuring every community gets their fair share, especially when it comes to better roads and public transport.

He has worked as a stockman, bank manager and financial analyst, and served as an infantry soldier and officer in the Australian Defence Force including a deployment to Afghanistan.

Brent was first elected to Parliament in 2017 and from 2020 to 2024 held the portfolio of Shadow Minister for Employment and Training, Small and Family Business, and Open Data.

Dr Gillian Miles AM: Commissioner, Infrastructure Australia

The Australian Government has appointed Dr Gillian Miles as a Commissioner of Infrastructure Australia for a five-year term.

Dr Miles joins Infrastructure Australia with more than 30 years of experience working across all levels of government, including as the Chief Executive Officer and Commissioner of the National Transport Commission and was appointed to the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator Board in October 2024. Dr Miles has also held senior executive roles in the Victorian public service, including as Head of Transport for Victoria. She currently serves as the Independent Chair of the Australian Rail Industry Standards Organisation, and as the Board Chair of the Chisholm Institute of TAFE.

Dr Miles was also instrumental in establishing the National Women in Transport network, which is a partnership between the NTC, Infrastructure Australia, and the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and The Arts.

In 2026, she was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM), recognising her significant service to the transport and infrastructure sectors.

Andrew Mahon: Deputy Director-General, Policy, Planning and Investment, Department of Transport and Main Roads

Andrew was appointed as Deputy Director-General, Policy, Planning and Investment in October 2022.  In this role, he leads a broad and strategic portfolio which creates the foundations for an integrated, multi-modal,

state-wide transport system.

Andrew provides the principal source of advice to the Director-General and Minister for Transport and Main Roads on a broad range of major transport policy and planning issues as well as having a key role in the development of strategic linkages with other key agencies and industry.

He has corporate responsibility for and oversees the investment direction and prioritisation of major business programs which form the $55.9 billion Queensland Transport Roads and Investment Program and provides key input into the Queensland Infrastructure Plan.

Sean Collingwood: Executive Director (Governance, Freight and Partnerships), Department of Transport and Main Roads

Sean Collingwood is the Executive Director at the Department of Transport and Main Roads responsible for multi-modal, strategic freight planning and freight industry partnerships.  A key part of his role is leading industry engagement, and most recently, the development and implementation of the Queensland Freight Delivery Plan, and associated programs and projects relating to Queensland’s ports and the rail, road, marine and air freight transport systems.

Sean is a qualified town planner with 21 years’ experience in land use and infrastructure planning and has specialised in planning and business case development for state and regionally significant rail infrastructure amongst other network priorities.  He is a strong advocate for industry and government partnerships, and building alliances with key stakeholders, to support the delivery of joint outcomes.
