FAQ's for Parents/Guardians/Caregivers:
Will my child be safe? All of our Event Crew, including Staff, Volunteers, Youth Workers, Contractors, Performers and Venue Staff are required to have a valid Working with Children's Check. All activities and programming at the event are vetted to ensure they are youth appropriate, and all of our events are alcohol, smoke, vape and drug free. We also ensure that we have First Aid Officers in attendance, including Youth Mental Health First Aid Officers should your young person need someone to talk to. Staff will do everything in their power to keep your young people safe, but please note that this is a larger event and is open to the public for ticket purchase.
The legends from Gippsland Ranges Roller Derby have provided a Safety, Access and Inclusion Guide for all attendees to the event. Details here:
What time does the event end? We are aiming to have your young person back at the YES Youth Hub at approximately 5pm - so please ensure that your young person has transport organised to get home - we will ensure that young people are safe until you arrive. We will encourage young people to text their parent/guardian/caregiver as we leave the venue in Warragul so that you have an accurate ETA.
Can parents come along too? We will only be facilitating transport for young people aged 12 - 25 to attend the event. Bus spots are not available for parents/guardians/caregivers to ensure that we are providing opportunities for as many young people as possible.
The YES Youth Hub and Y Bass Coast team acknowledge First Nations’ sovereignty and recognises the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia on the land on which this event will take place; and the lands we live on, work on, and travel through. We pay our respect to Indigenous Elders - past and present - and acknowledge their ongoing connections to the land, seas and sky. Always was, always will be.
