Event description

Trauma-informed practice is a way of teaching that recognises how trauma can change the way people behave and learn, and is grounded in safety, trust, having choices, working together and building confidence. This training draws on current neuroscience and clinical insights, and practical strengths-based strategies for educators.

Through this workshop, you will:

  • Increase your understanding of the different types of trauma and how it can impact on behaviour, engagement and learning
  • Learn about trauma-informed principles and how they apply in adult learning
  • Identify practical teaching strategies that foster psychological safety, predictability and trust
  • Develop your ability to create inclusive classroom environments that acknowledge adversity without pathologizing behaviour
  • Develop strategies for maintaining your own wellbeing while working with trauma-affected learners.
