Students with disability are statistically more likely to experience trauma than their non-disabled peers and as a result they are more likely to struggle socially, emotionally, and academically. Unfortunately, many educators are not adequately trained to identify the signs of trauma in students with disability and may inadvertently attribute the outward behavioural manifestations of trauma to the student's disability.

Presenter:

Dr Leanne Longfellow has spent over thirty years in the field of disability and education as a teacher, academic, educational consultant, presenter and researcher. Her own experience of disability, and that of parenting her daughter with disability, informs her practice. She is currently the director of Inclusive Education Planning, an organisation that supports schools and teachers to include students with disability in general education.
