ABOUT TRAVIS JENKINS ORGAN TRIO
Travis is a prominent multi-instrumentalist and composer from Meanjin/Brisbane, specialising in guitar with a strong focus on jazz and other forms of improvised music. His latest combo, the classic organ trio format (featuring Sam Castan on drums and Lochlan Feng on hammond organ), looks to feature an eclectic variety of approaches to organ trio music. With influences ranging from Dr. Lonnie Smith, Jimmy Smith, Larry Goldings, Medeski Martin and Wood, and John Scofield, to perhaps some more obscure influences such as Jamie Saft, John Zorn, Mark Ribot, Lez Baxter and the Thai folk music known as "Molam". The trio are celebrating the release of their first full-length recording “A Turtle’s Dream in Outer Space” at JMI Live on Thursday the 23rd of November.
