    Event description

Join us for this special event, featuring the Paul Bourke Award Winner for Early Career Research, Dr Harry Hobbs as he explores modern treaty-making between Indigenous peoples and governments in Australia. This event will add context to the upcoming referendum, and allow the audience to question whether Australia should go down the treaty path; a path that could lead to political settlements that empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and address the injustices at the heart of the Australian state.

After delivering his talk, Harry will participate in a conversation with Professor Lindon Coombes, Industry Professor and Director at Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research at UTS, on modern treaty-making.

Registrations close Friday 25 August 2023.
