Tree of Life Reflection

Event description

Why should I participate?

For personal - Writing your history. Telling your story. Empowerment. Resilience.

For business - If you’re looking for fresh, productive ways to build relationships in business or daily living this is a great way to do it.

Imagine a narrative of your “life story” in which you are the hero, rather than the victim.

It’s possible that the life story you tell yourself and others changes depending on who is asking, your mood, and whether you feel like you are still at the beginning, in the middle, or at the end of your most compelling story.

When was the last time you paused to consider the stories you tell? What is your most creative positive story?

The goal of this activity is to uncover opportunities for growth and development, find meaning, and value yourself better. The bonus of doing this as a group is to support one another and establish new relationships.

What is it?

Reflecting on your life story enables you to speak about your life in ways that make you stronger. Drawing your ‘tree of life’ you get to reflect on your ‘roots’ (where you come from), your skills and knowledge, your hopes and dreams, as well as the special people in your life.

This activity is about awareness of all the different aspects of your identity including your past, future goals, strengths, and support systems. When doing it in a group you can join your trees into a ‘forest of life’. You can discuss some of the ‘storms’ that disrupt life and healthy responses to protect yourself and others.

The Tree of Life narrative is an opportunity to speak about your life in ways that are not re-traumatising, but instead strengthen relationships with personal history, culture, and significant people. This narrative can create a unique perspective and the ability to grow in your own power and wisdom.

Not an artist? Don’t worry. We can provide a tree graphic and you can fill in the blanks.

How does it work?

We gather together once a week for six weeks. Each session includes teacher facilitation, class discussion, meditation, and time to journal and grow (draw, design) elements of your tree.

Meditation is an opportunity to engage with balanced breathing, gentle movement, and creative visioning. This is a 15 minute guided exercise. We all join together with an aim to balance body-mind and become fully present with positive creativity.
