Tribqu with Setwun, Mike Gurrieri, Solomon C and Strange Interactions
Event description
Following a seasonal hiatus, Tribqu is stepping into spring with fresh energies. In this instalment, we have an offering that will get bodies moving to the deep and soulful sounds of West London’s Broken Beat movement. We’re excited to be hosting our first dance at one of Melbourne’s most important late-night establishments, Sub Club, bringing together some of the finest selectors for your listening pleasure.
Festivities will be kicking off at 11pm on Friday September 8, carrying on till late in the basement depths beneath the city streets.
We’re super excited to announce that Setwun will be joining the Tribqu crew to headline, venturing down from his home turf of Eroa (Sydney) with a bag full of badmun tracks. Setwun is a much-respected figure of the Eroa underground scene. The versatile composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and DJ has been making waves internationally, and has been honing his DJ craft, moving dance floors at home and beyond. We’re also honoured to be hosting Mike Gurrieri, legend of the Naarm community, who’s been providing a musical education through radio, record stores, and dance floors for over 20 years. Bringing together this experience with the new shades of the Naarm scene, Strange Interaction will be sharing sounds from the darker corners of the underground dance world. To warm things up, Tribqu’s own Solomon C will be bringing his spirited bruk flavours, peppered with dub effects courtesy of head honcho and dance host Zjoso.
See you in the basement.
