Event description

Three standout voices from the Bay Area come together to explore the stark beauty and emotional depth of Gillian Welch’s songwriting. In this special show, her evocative catalog is reimagined in rich three-part harmonies—minimalist, haunting, and full of texture.

The show features Margaret BeltonMeredith Edgar, and Jill Rogers—three of the region’s most distinctive singers.

Meredith Edgar, a San Francisco-born singer-songwriter, brings her dark-hued, cinematic tone—sharp and smoky, haunting and melancholic. Described as having a voice that “sounds like she stepped out of the starring singer role in a David Lynch movie,” Edgar’s sound blends Americana with noir.

Jill Rogers, known for fronting Oakland’s Crying Time, channels a deep well of country, soul, and folk. With a voice that’s equal parts vintage shimmer and barroom truth, she’s no stranger to songs of love and loss, delivering them with emotional clarity and grit.

Margaret Belton, acclaimed for her award-winning portrayals of Patsy Cline, adds warmth and theatrical presence. With roots in classic country, jazz, and blues, her performances are heartfelt and resonant.

They’ll be backed by an exceptional band featuring Jamie Duncan (Meredith Edgar Trio, Joe Rut and the Sunshine Shovellers, Laura Benitez and the Heartache) and Myles Boisen (Crying Time, Angela LaFlamme’s Megaflame, Orchestra Nostalgico) on guitars, and Russell Kiel (Crying Time, Ruby Lee Hill) on bass.

Expect an evening of harmony, heartache, and masterful storytelling.
