Event description

Trinity College Presents: Away by Michael Gow

Away by Michael Gow is a poignant and richly evocative Australian play set in Christmas 1967. The story revolves around three families preparing for their summer holidays on the coast. As they embark on their vacations, the play explores their personal struggles and conflicts against the backdrop of the Vietnam War and the social upheavals of the 1960s.

The narrative unfolds through the perspective of Tom, a young aspiring actor, and focuses on the lives of three mothers: one grieving the loss of a child, another fearful of losing her own, and the third learning to let go. The play delves into themes of family dynamics, personal loss, and the quest for renewal, capturing the tension between personal and collective struggles. With its blend of humor and drama, Away offers a compelling exploration of the ways in which individuals and families seek solace and understanding amid their trials.
