Trivia Night - Raising funds for Childhood Dementia
Event description
Every year, more than 100 rare genetic disorders cause a devastating condition known as childhood dementia. Children born with these conditions suffer progressive loss of skills they once had such as talking, walking, reading, writing and eventually even lose abilities essential to bodily functions.
The stats are stark:
1 in every 2,900 babies is born with a condition that causes childhood dementia.
Half of all these children die by age 10, and most by their 18th birthday.
There is currently no cure. Research is severely under-funded and many of these disorders receive far fewer clinical trials per patient than childhood cancer.
Childhood Dementia Initiative (CDI) was established in 2020 to change that. Their mission: to accelerate research, improve care, advocate for policies, and support families by bringing all the conditions under one umbrella so the world can respond more effectively.
