This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Many people have lives worth writing about. Still, how do you know not only what stands out as significant but also how to write the stuff of your life into compelling, emotionally engaging stories?

Join award-winning author Dr Laurie Steed as he outlines the ins and outs of writing true stories and specific ways to help them leap from the page.

This is a ticketed event with limited capacity - bookings are essential.

About the Facilitator: Laurie Steed is an author, mentor, manuscript assessor and the Partnerships and Business Development Manager for Writing WA. His debut novel, You Belong Here, was shortlisted for the 2018 WA Premier’s Book Awards. His second book, the memoir, Love, Dad, was published by Fremantle Press in August 2023, and his third book, Greater City Shadows, will be published in February 2024.

Venue: State Library of Western Australia, Ground Floor, Pilbara Room.

Ticket Sales: All proceeds from Writing WA workshops & events fund the organisation's ongoing mission as a non-profit registered charity to support West Australian writers and writing. Writing WA acknowledges the current economic challenges facing Australians. As such, to improve accessibility to professional development activities for the writing community, Writing WA has introduced a 'Pay What You Can' ticketing model.

Companion Card: Writing WA accepts the Companion Card for all tickets events. Please contact Shannon on s.britza@writingwa.org to arrange this free ticket.
