Truth + Trust with Kerry O'Brien and Cathy McGowan
Event description
Join Cathy McGowan and Kerry O'Brien in conversation with Quentin Dempster for an evening discussion on saving our ABC, building trust in our representatives, and the powerful role that independents can play.Â
In 2013, Cathy McGowan broke the Coalition’s hold on the seat of Indi, becoming the first independent member for the north-east Victorian electorate and the first female independent to sit on the parliamentary crossbench. Since then, Cathy has sparked nationwide interest in the potential of community-based, independent politicians to chart a new course for Australian democracy.
Kerry O’Brien is one of Australia’s most respected journalists, with six Walkley Awards for excellence in journalism. For over two decades, Kerry was Australia's premier television interviewer and reporter and he is the role model for a generation of journalists. Kerry is passionate about defending our ABC, and safeguarding its role as a vital source of truth in our country.Â
The discussion will be moderated by esteemed Australian journalist, author and broadcaster Quentin Dempster. Quentin worked at the ABC for over 30 years, and is a steadfast advocate for strong, local and informed media.Â
Allegra Spender is the independent candidate for Wentworth in this year's federal election. Allegra believes in defending our ABC and is committed to being a representative who serves their electorate, not their career.Â
To find out more about Allegra's trust and truth agenda, and hear from some of the field's leading experts, join us at 7:00pm for a 7:30pm start on Monday April 4 at North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club.Â
