Truth Women's Circles - March - Too Much
Event description
This month Truth Women’s Circles invites you to gather in circle to explore the concept of being "too much" or "not enough" of a woman. I'm sure we've all experienced this in some way or another. Perhaps you've been told, "you're too.....loud, sexy, serious, ambitious, opinionated". Or maybe sometimes you feel that you "take up too much space". Or maybe it's coming from within. Have you ever felt you are the "nice girl" - that you are holding yourself back because what you want to do or say wouldn't be seen as "nice". Or perhaps you don't feel "enough" as a woman. It might be in your femininity, or your mothering, or your role as a romantic partner. What all of these feelings have in common is other people's expectations of women - of how we should behave, what our role is in society, or even how we should be embodying those roles eg motherhood. These expectations make us feel too much, and if we internalise them we end up in the role of good girl, or not feeling enough of a woman. One way we can alleviate these expectations, and the thoughts and feelings that come with them, is to embrace the wild woman within us. The woman who lives for herself, sets boundaries, loves fiercely and takes up as much space as she wants to!
Before you come along to the circle, we ask you to reflect on your experiences, thoughts and feelings to identify where you have felt like you are simply too much for other people, take up too much space, are being a nice girl, or aren't feeling good enough as a woman. Then we will spend a short time journaling, before we share our stories with one another. Afterwards, we will use a visualisation and cacao ceremony to explore how we could embrace the wild woman in our everyday lives.
