Transcending the Narrative: Shepparton

Transcending the Narrative takes queer young people (16-25 years old) from Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley on a journey of writing, re-writing, and transcending their story.

Exploring creative writing, and using principles of Narrative Therapy, Transcending the Narrative will take participants on a journey from the story we queer people have - or are told to have - about our lives, to a self-affirming, transcendent narrative of our lives.

This workshop will be co-facilitated by Omni Insight's Ren Slade (she/they), a genderqueer, lesbian, neurodivergent, Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with almost 15 years experience working in, and with queer communities. It will also be co-facilitated by Omni Insight's Hannah Parish (they/them), a queer, neurodivergent Social Work Student with a love of nature and dance.

This workshop is provided free by LINE Wangaratta and Omni Insight, and are generously funded by YACVic's Healthy Equal Youth grants. Omni Insight and LINE Wangaratta also partnered with Brittany Barnard, Tone Train Consulting, GV Pride and Uniting to develop this workshop.
