Tug DeLuce Memorial Art Exhibition Opening
Description
Join us in Old City this upcoming First Friday for the opening of the Tug DeLuce Memorial Art Exhibition.
After putting out a call for mushroom and mycology themed artwork, we are pleased to share pieces submitted by members of the mycology community in honor of Tug DeLuce. Stop by Cassie's Craft Coven to view the artwork, make origami mushrooms, and enjoy light refreshments during the opening.
The exhibition is part of our ongoing effort to support the Tug DeLuce Memorial Scholarship, which will fund a local artist’s attendance at the Northeast Mycological Federation’s Annual Foray. Donations made through this event will help fund future scholarships in Tug’s name and memory.
Registration is appreciated so we know how many snacks to procure, but not required to attend.
About the Location
The coven studio is located in the heart of Olde City in UNDERGROUND. This is not an ADA accessible space due to there are being 11 steps down into the exhibit space.
Please reach out to admin@phillymycoclub.com with any questions.

Tug De Luce was a longtime friend of the Philadelphia Mycology Club. He was among the most outwardly joyful and unabashedly authentic people to be around. When the PMC was founded in 2018, Tug was one of a small handful of early mentors for our club leaders, bringing years of experience and mycological knowledge to every walk, foray, and lecture. Tug had a passion for ethnomycology, often showing off trophy sized edible mushrooms or whispering little hints about where to find certain medicinal species. He was also passionate about taxonomy and understood the challenges of naming and understanding our fungal diversity. He spent time working as a volunteer in the herbarium at the Academy of Natural Sciences annotating specimens and uncovering treasures in the collection, some of which are now framed and on display in the botany department.
Tug was also a talented artist. He used his talents to depict the things he loved in life such as nature, mushrooms, friends, and of course, gnomes. His passions for art and mycology were inspiring to so many in the Philadelphia Mycology Club and Mycofest communities.
