Tukutuku | Threads of Aroha series
Description
Free 9-week tukutuku project for adults
Tuesdays | 10am–1pm | Beginning 10 November 2026 - 9 February 2027
Come together to learn, create and connect through the traditional Māori art of tukutuku.
Tukutuku | Threads of Aroha is a free, Māori-led creative project exploring aroha, belonging and connection through mahi toi. Learn traditional tukutuku patterns and techniques while working with upcycled canvases and materials to create something meaningful.
Over nine weeks, we’ll work together to create a series of tukutuku panels that form one collective artwork, sharing a story about how aroha is expressed in our communities. From kindness and generosity to resilience, belonging and connection, each panel will reflect the many ways we care for and support one another.
No previous experience is needed, just a willingness to give something new a go, share ideas and enjoy creating alongside others.
Whether you can join us for a single session or return each week, you’re welcome to be part of the creative journey.
