Turning The Tide Fundraising Event
Event description
WE ARE NO LONGER TAKING ONLINE TICKET SALES. PLEASE PURCHASE YOUR EVENT TICKET AT THE EVENT SITE FROM 8:30AM SUNDAY 20 NOVEMBER
On the 20th of November, hundreds of caring people in our community will walk along Muriwai Beach to raise money and awareness for the wellbeing of our children and youth. We would love for you to be a part of this special day, and help us to raise $30,000 for a great local cause.
Event Details
The main event is a 17km walk/run or 5km gentle walk on West Auckland's rugged and beautiful Muriwai Beach.
This is a family-friendly event for all fitness levels, from athletic runners who want the physical challenge of the 17km beach walk, to families and friends who prefer the gentler 5km option.
There will also be a whānau trail with fun activities for children and families to enjoy. Tickets for the whānau trail are by koha, so as not to be a barrier to any of our local families and whānau. We only ask that you give what you can afford toward this great local cause.
Plus, if you are both a humanitarian AND an environmentalist, we have good news for you! We are teaming up with the good people at South Kaipara Cleanups to help clean up the first 8km of Muriwai Beach. @SouthKaiparaCleanUps will provide rubbish bags to our walkers on the day, and we've also invited them back afterwards for a BBQ at the Muriwai Surf Club.
*CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE UNDER 18YEARS ARE FREE WITH A PAYING ADULT.
Team Entries
Get your friends, family, or colleagues together and enter as a team. There will be prizes and status for the biggest, fastest (over 17km), and most colorful teams on the day.
To register your team, purchase your 'team' tickets under your teams chosen name. We will then add your team to our Turning The Tide Fundraising Event: Team Register.
Alternatively, you can email Rowan at rowan@kindredserivices.org.nz to register your team.
The Cause
With the uncertainty of the past couple of years, the mental wellbeing of our children and youth has become the most pressing social issue for our local community. With $30,000.00 Kindred Family Services can deliver over 300 therapy sessions for children, youth, and their families. This intervention will work alongside existing programs and tools that promote a loving, safe, and supportive home environment through these challenging times.
