Turnout- Live Contemporary Dance
Event description
Turnout is a new season of experimental contemporary dance featuring a triple bill of new works from local choreographers; Elizabeth Apter, Mara Glass, and Bella Lopes De Oliveira.
Duration: 1 hour (no interval)
Each 20 minute work explores a different idea through the medium of contemporary dance with elements of physical theatre and interplay with the audience.
From Elizabeth Apter
Beautiful Flesh Rots Pointedly: An exploration of femininity through the lens of the Body, Soul & Spirit. How do these ideologies intersect and what stories can be portrayed within the physical realm?
From Mara Glass
Sloprot: A look into how generative AI can never truly replicate art made by real people. It invites the audience to take a leap with us into the creative sphere of dance making, including an homage to some of the modern and postmodern dance pioneers.
From Bella Lopes De Oliveira
Clownface: Vulnerable, exposed, nowhere to go, a circus, an arena and thankfully you are the audience, not one of the clowns. Their embarrassment is for your entertainment, so sit back and laugh because it's all for show.
