Turtle Island Builders Mount Barker
Description
Get involved in turtle conservation in Mount Barker! Join us for a fun and rewarding community day where we will build a Biohaven island, a safe nesting habitat for freshwater turtles and other wetland wildlife.
Before we start building, hear from turtle experts Professors Mike Thompson and Ricky Spencer to learn more about our local freshwater turtle species, the threats to they face, and current conservation activities. We will also chat about TurtleSat, the citizen science app you can use to report your turtle sightings to help support turtle research.
As a thank you for your building efforts you will be rewarded with some lunch - please advise of any dietary requirements when you register.
We would love the help of lots of hands, both big and small, but please ensure children are supervised by an adult at all times.
The TURTLE project is an initiative of the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board with funding from the South Australian Government’s Landscape Priorities Fund. Learn more about the project here.
