Event description
The aims of the South Australian TURTLE (Together Understanding and Recovering Turtles in our Landscapes and Ecosystems) Project are:
Increase awareness of freshwater turtle conservation
Collect critical data through monitoring and research including citizen science
Facilitate informed conservation on-ground action in key areas of South Australia
Compile a Turtle Management Plan for the state to guide future research, action and investment
To begin the 2 year project we are inviting everyone interested in turtle conservation in the Riverland (experts, Councils, state government, First Nations, environmental organisations, wildlife carers, breeders, landholders, community enthusiasts, fox-proof fencers, citizen scientists, teachers, students, detection dog trainers, ….) to a workshop to learn, and share knowledge and ideas on Saturday September 20th at the Berri Hotel to get us all ready for the upcoming spring/summer SA turtle season.
