Event description
The Tutankhamun (Tut) Roadshow comes to Leeton. Bringing the wonders of Egypt back to Leeton, the 2019 crowd favourite is BACK for the 2022 Australian Art Deco Festival, Leeton. This is a unique experience not to be missed. Containing three theatrettes, the Tut Roadshow takes visitors on a journey through Ancient Egypt. Significant discoveries are explored, and visitors learn about the continued importance archaeology plays in our understanding of cultures, their struggles, and their impact on today. ‘The Code Room’ begins with contextual history and introductions to Tutankhamen’s father Akhenaten, as well as the men behind the discovery of the Boy King’s tomb — Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon. Visitors then move inside ‘The Tomb Room’ to explore the chamber of Tutankhamen’s tomb and its contents. This section of the exhibition showcases the ancient Egyptian concept of the afterlife, funerary objects, and the mummification process. Finally, ‘The Scroll Room’ centres on the tools of archaeology and explores the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Featured are original ancient artefacts from the Roman Empire that are thousands of years old. The Tut Roadshow is an eye-opening learning experience you will not forget. Located alongside the Leeton Museum and Gallery, this all-ages exhibit has FREE entry throughout the 2022 Australian Art Deco Festival, Leeton. |
