50km Tweed Coast Pedal for Prostates
Description
Please join us on a casual bike ride through the spectacular Tweed countryside. It's a scenic ride passing through a huge variety of landscapes along the award winning Northern Rivers Rail Trail. You'll start in the quaint village of Burringbar and follow the route of the disused railway line north for just over 20km to the town of Murwillumbah, nestled in the Tweed Valley next to Mount Warning/Wollumbin. After exploring the myriad of small shops in Murwillumbah's Main Street you'll head back the way you came, passing Burringbar and continuing on through Mooball to Crabbes Creek at the southern end of the trail. After a rest there you can return to Mooball or Burringbar for something to eat and drink. And because it's an old railway line there are no hills!
Have a day out in the country. Take your time and take the kids. Stop along the way at one of the many eateries on the trail (or a stone's throw from it) for a relaxing brunch, coffee, lunch, artisan ice cream or mouth-watering cakes. Enjoy hand made cheeses and other local produce along with the views. There are cafes, restaurants, the amazing Margaret Olley art gallery, iconic pubs and roadhouses and soooo much great scenery.

Why? Well apart from having a great day you'll be helping to raise funds for prostate cancer research.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in Australia.
More than 28,000 Australian men were diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2025.
1 in 5 of Australian men are at risk of being diagnosed in their lifetime and men living in regional or rural areas of Australia have approximately 24% higher rate of dying from prostate cancer than their urban counterparts.
The Lions Club of Cabarita Beach and Pottsville Beach is raising funds for prostate cancer research, while increasing awareness of the disease.
Mark Jensen, Life Force Program Manager from the Prostate Cancer Foundation, will be making short presentations about the disease, its detection, diagnosis and treatment between 11am and 3pm at the start/finish in Burringbar. He will also be happy to answer any questions you may have about prostate cancer.

Regular PSA (prostate specific antigen) blood tests save lives
You check the PSI in your tyres regularly so why not do the same for your PSA?

This is NOT A RACE. Take your time and make a day of it. It's a wonderful way to experience and enjoy all the things that the Tweed Coast has to offer - spectacular countryside, restaurants, cafes, galleries, markets and more. There are plenty of places along the route to refuel with delicious treats and refreshments. We will also have two official rest stops at Murwillumbah railway station and Burringbar with free water and small snacks.
Funds raised will be donated to The Lions Prostate Cancer Research & Treatment Project and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Find out more about these organisations here:

Tickets for adults (18+) are $66 each.
Children aged 12 to 17 as of 26/4/26 are welcome (accompanied by an adult) at only $6 each!
Children under 12 (accompanied by an adult) are free of charge
Please nominate your preferred start time when you buy your tickets. Some will like to start early, others later. Our aim is to even out the flow of cyclists so by knowing what time you want to start it will help us make sure the event runs smoothly.
You can bring your own bike or E-bike with pedal support or you can hire one. Hire bikes can be picked up at Mooball, only a 5 minute ride from the start in Burringbar and dropped off at the same place. Hire is available from 7am until 4pm.
An information booklet with details of the route, including refuelling stops, first aid, bike repair and points of interest along the way will be sent to you by email 2 weeks before the event. You may also pick up a hardcopy of the info booklet on the day.
Keep in mind that the rail trail will be open to all users so be considerate, keep to the left and give way to walkers, and watch out for cyclists travelling in the other direction. And wear a helmet. There are two tunnels on the rail trail one of which is really dark so each bicycle must have an operating front light.
You can buy an event T-shirt that will be handed to you when you check in for the ride. By wearing the shirt you'll be eligible for discounts at some supporting venues along the route.

You can obtain Personal Accident and Public Liability insurance by joining BicycleNSW. Receive 15% off 12 months membership by using code LIONSRIDE26.
