Twilight Garden Tour

Nestled in the middle of Sydney, the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney is an oasis to urban wildlife.

The Royal Botanic Garden has the highest biodiversity values across the Sydney Local Government Area and contains more than 27,000 plants from around the world. Recent wildlife surveys have found that nearly 100 species of vertebrates make their home in the Garden, including birds, mammals, reptiles and frogs. Covering more than 30 hectares of critical habitat, the Garden includes collections of remnant Eucalyptus trees, succulent plants and cacti from around the world and ponds that are home to eels and birds.

Join an ecologist-led tour of the Garden as day turns to night. Observe the night garden come alive, hear the dusk chorus of birdsong, see nocturnal animals take to the skies and trees and see the emergence of night blooming flowers. We’ll use our senses and sometimes torchlight to help us locate animals and plants that have special nocturnal adaptations. We may see Brush-tailed possums, Flying foxes, Golden Orb Spiders, Longfin Eels, strangler figs and the ancient Wollemi Pine.

Recommended for ages 8+. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult. This tour runs in all weather. Insect repellent recommended over summer months.
