Description

Little hands, big ideas ✋🌈

Got a kid who can't sit still for five minutes? Hand them a bundle of bendy wax sticks and watch what happens.

In this hands-on workshop, kids aged 3–8 get to try Twisty Kids wax sticks, a new kind of craft that's soft, bendy and endlessly reusable. They'll learn to twist, bend and stick them into their own little masterpieces: animals, cars, rainbows, monsters and whatever else they dream up.

Best part? Kids take their creations home, and when they're ready for something new, they simply peel the sticks apart and start again.

What happens on the day

  • 10:30 – Warm-up: we show the kids how to twist, bend and join the sticks, and they make their first simple shapes.

  • 10:40 – Creative time: 40 minutes of making, with idea cards for every age and skill level.

  • 11:20 – Show & tell: kids who'd like to can proudly share their creation with the group.

We finish by 11:30, which is perfect timing for lunch at one of the cafés and restaurants in Greenwood Plaza.

More than just fun

  • Strong hands before big pencils. Twisting, pinching and bending build the same small hand muscles kids need for holding a pencil at school.

  • Real focus, no screens. Open-ended making keeps kids absorbed without being told to concentrate.

  • Works for every age. Three-year-olds make simple shapes, and eight-year-olds build 3D creations. Everyone has a win.

Your host
Victoria is a Sydney mum of two boys and the founder of Twisty Kids. She knows exactly how a room full of little makers can go, and she'll keep it fun, calm and easy.

FAQs

  • My child is 2 (or 9). Can they come?

Yes, absolutely. Twisty Kids works for all ages. We recommend 3+ because that's when kids can really create on their own, but younger ones do beautifully with a bit of help from you. And for older kids, we'll challenge them with 3D builds. Just book a ticket for each child taking part.

  • Do I need to stay?

Yes, one parent or carer stays with each child for the session, and it's free. You're welcome to sit alongside and help, or simply watch.

  • Does my child need any experience?

Not at all. We start with a quick demo, and the idea cards suit every skill level, from first-timers to confident little makers.

  • What does my child take home?

Everything they make. The sticks are reusable, so kids can peel their creation apart at home and make something new.

  • What are the wax sticks made of?

Yarn coated in beeswax. If your child has allergies or sensitivities, please tell us at checkout.

  • Where do I park?

Greenwood Plaza car park / nearby street parking. The Hub is also easy to reach by train from North Sydney Station.
