Two-day Insight Meditation workshop - Newcastle
Event description
Insight Meditation and Insight Dialogue workshop
NOTE: A range of different insight meditation practices will be offered over these two days, and you can attend either or both of them. Priority will be given to people attending both days.
Saturday: Insight Meditation
Insight Meditation harnesses the power of mindfulness to develop understanding in all aspects of our lives, which leads to greater ease, happiness, and peace of mind.
This workshop is suitable for anyone new to insight meditation, as well as those who would like to deepen their practice of some of the classical meditation methods included in the Four Establishments of Mindfulness.
The day will include meditation instruction, guided and silent sitting meditation, walking meditation, and some small group discussion.
Sunday: Insight Dialogue - relational meditation
Insight Dialogue is an interpersonal meditation practice that brings the mindfulness and tranquility of traditional silent meditation into our experience with others. Working together in pairs, practicing mindful speaking and mindful listening, we will explore the six guidelines of Insight Dialogue in conjunction with classical Buddhist teachings to understand the habits of heart and mind that lead to stress and distress, and how to free ourselves from those habits so that we can live with greater ease and happiness.
This workshop is best suited to people who have some experience of insight/vipassanā/mindfulness meditation, but prior Insight Dialogue experience is not required.
