Want to get into some longer rides and test yourself a bit? Come and follow the aptly named River Rd down the Hawkesbury for a social ride.

The ride starts and finishes near to Windsor Train Station at McQuade Park, easily accessible by either train or car from most locations in Sydney and the surrounds.

The ride will be a dayride loop, including the Sackville and Lower Portland ferries, some of the surrounding hills with a pit stop at Tractor 828 for a coffee and a bite to eat around two thirds of the way into the ride.

We expect the ride to take approximately 5-6 hours including the cafe stop. The ride is approximately 60 km and 450m of climbing, 90% paved and 10% light gravel.

With these details in mind, we are hoping to encourage people that may not otherwise feel comfortable riding in big groups for long distances and help start the journey into touring and other forms of distance riding. You are of course welcome to come if you are more experienced, but we are not setting any world records on this ride. There is a map provided for the ride below through Google Maps.

We will have a small Omafiets crew on the ride to help guide and help with small mechanicals and other issues. However this is designed as a self supported ride, there won’t be a sweep or support vehicle. Please make sure you and your bike are prepared for the ride.

50% of the tickets are reserved for Non-Cis Man riders.

Things you will need:

A reasonable level of fitness
A suitable bike: (it's a mixture of dirt roads, gravel and tarmac, we recommend 28mm tyres minimum). If in doubt bring it into the shop or book a service.
Water -At least a liter is good, more is safer.
Snacks to keep your energy up for the ride. We will look to have a bite to eat at Tractor 828
Clothes appropriate for the weather, it doesn’t hurt to bring a raincoat/poncho
Lights and a helmet
Tools and spares (patch kit, inner tube, pump, allen keys etc.) If in doubt, ask us !
A way to view the route that is accessible without phone reception, the ride will be around 2/3rds without good reception.
