FAQs
- Is this a dance class?
Not really. UKA Fitness is heavily inspired by Cook Islands dancing. Yes, you will learn the absolute basics of Cook Islands dancing, but the focus is on movement, wellbeing and community rather than learning all the techniques of traditional Cook Islands dancing. I'm not a Cook Islands dance expert! Just a girl who loves to share her passion for movement, fitness, culture and people.
- Do I need dance experience?
Absolutely not. UKA Fitness is designed for everyday girls and women, not dancers. The focus is on movement, fitness, fun and confidenceânot perfect choreography!
- How hard is the workout?
Think:
âââââ to âââââ
You can increase or decrease your effort depending on how hard you want to work.
Some women come to sweat.
Some come to move and unwind.
Both are welcome.
- I'm nervous. What if I look silly?
Trust me, you won't.
Everyone is there for the same reasonâto move, have fun and enjoy themselves.
Nobody is judging you.
I guarantee you'll be too busy having a good time and sweating to worry about what anyone else is doing.
- What should I wear?
Comfortable activewear that you can move freely in.
We also encourage everyone to bring a sarong (pareu) as it is a key part of Cook Islands culture, movement and dance.
No sarong? We will have a limited number available to borrow.
