Event description

This introductory workshop is designed to strengthen the skills and knowledge of employees and volunteers, to better understand and support people who have experienced mental distress.

It is open to employees & volunteers from government, non-government and private organisations in the St George & Sutherland areas.

Content includes:
- Exploring stigma, and mental health recovery from a lived experience perspective
- Understanding different diagnoses and experiences of mental distress
- Approaches/strategies in managing mental distress
- Understanding and responding to self-harm and suicide
- Helpful communication strategies
- Navigating the Mental Health Service

Facilitators are people with lived experience of mental distress and experienced mental health clinicians currently working with community mental health services.
