UNAA Queensland Peace Cup 2023
Event description
The United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA) Queensland, and UNAA Young Professionals are proud to partner with Multicultural Australia to present the inaugural UNAA Queensland Peace Cup. We're bringing together players and supporters from across Brisbane's refugee support, multicultural integration, peace advocacy and United Nations network to celebrate peace and inclusion through the power of sport.
With special thanks to our venue partner, the School of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Queensland.
The 2023 Peace Cup will take place on field 3, UQ St Lucia, and will feature:
- 9.00am - Registration and morning tea
- 9.15am - Social warm up games
- 9.50am - Opening address
- 10.00am - The 2023 UNAAQ Peace Cup football match
- 11.00am - Presentation of winner and close.
We are looking forward to a friendly, but competitive celebration of what makes Brisbane's peace and multicultural organisations so great. As United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said, “Peace is needed today more than ever. War and conflict are unleashing devastation, poverty, and hunger, and driving tens of millions of people from their homes. Climate chaos is all around. And even peaceful countries are gripped by gaping inequalities and political polarization.”
This event would not be possible without the support of the UNAA Young Professionals.
