Peace Cup 2025 - Celebrating the International Day of Peace
In celebration of the International Day of Peace, young professionals, friends, charities and multicultural communities across Brisbane are coming together for a special event that champions hope, unity, and connection through the universal language of sport.
Peace Cup is more than just a tournament - it’s a morning of awareness, belonging, and community. At a time when conflict and division dominate global headlines, we’re choosing to gather in a spirit of peace, play, and partnership.
🌏 What to expect on the day
Soccer Tournament (7 vs 7): Join mixed teams for friendly matches designed to bring people together, build connections, and celebrate cultural diversity. Note - you need to be over 18 years old to play.
Community Time: simply enjoy mingling and connecting with new friends from across the community, either as spectator during the games or after the tournament for the shared lunch!
Donation Drive for Kicks for Kids: Bring along any new or gently used sporting goods - such as shoes, jerseys, balls, or equipment - to donate to Kicks for Kids. Your contribution will help disadvantaged children in Australia and across the Indo-Pacific access the benefits of sport.
Shared Cultural Lunch: Stay after the games for a truly special lunch! Dishes will be lovingly prepared by attendees from refugee and international backgrounds, sharing food from their cultures and traditions. It’s a chance to travel the world through taste and learn more about the cultures of your peers. You’re warmly encouraged to bring along a plate to share if you’d like to contribute to this cultural exchange!
⚽ Why Peace Cup?
Together, we’re using the power of sport to break down barriers, foster belonging, and promote peace - one kick at a time. This will be a morning of friendly matches, connection, and conversation. Because when we play together, we grow together. And that’s what peace looks like.
🤝 This year’s Peace Cup brings together:
United Nations Association of Australia Young Professionals (UNAA YP QLD): A network of young change-makers promoting the UN’s values of peace, human rights, and sustainable development.
Rohingya United led by Robi Alam: A soccer team that uplifts and empowers Rohingya youth and refugees, using football and community programs to build confidence, unity and brighter futures.
Refugee Background Student Success Program (Griffith University): An initiative that empowers refugee-background students to create opportunities, build strong networks, and celebrate their successes together.
Kicks for Kids: A Brisbane-based non-profit run by university students, providing disadvantaged children and communities in Australia and across the Indo-Pacific with access to the developmental benefits of sport.
✨ Join us for a morning of sport, connection, and culture - because peace starts when we come together.
Please note that all participants in the game are required to be over 18 for insurance purposes. We encourage families to join as spectators and enjoy what should be an amazing lunch!
