Unbreakable - Inspired by the Barkley Marathons, known as the hardest ultra marathon in the USA if not the world conceived by the Legendary Lazarus Lake (aka) Gary Cantrell, Laz was inspired by the 1977 escape of James Early Ray from Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary. Ray was in prison for the assassination of Martin Luther King Junior and on his escape was only able to cover 13km in 55hrs in the Frozen Head State Park in Tennessee. Laz thought that was a poor effort and suggested he could have covered 100 miles in that time and so the Barkley Marathons was born ( Named after Laz's Neighbour and running friend Barry Barkley, who sadly passed away aged 70 on Dec 5th 2019.

Like the French created the Chartreuse Terminorum in 2017 inspired by the Barkley marathons, here in Australia we have Unbreakable, inspired by the Barkley marathons. The only question that truly remains is, What will remain unbreakable?
