Uncensored: Law, Health, Gender
Event description
Why is the blood in tampon commercials blue? What is endometriosis, and why am I suddenly seeing it everywhere? What does it mean when people talk about 'trauma-informed' responses to domestic violence?
Delve into history's gender bias in medicine, and discover the leading role the law can play in women's health, hearing from:
- Ms Sonia Pichler, Case worker at WILMA Women's Health Centre
- Ms Paulina Moncrieff, Partner, Health Liability at Norton Rose Fulbright
- Prof Debra Anderson, Dean, UTS Health
For this event, we've partnered with Plate it Forward, a social enterprise that donates meals to refugees globally, and communities in need, whilst simultaneously providing employment opportunities to recently settled asylum seekers and refugees. When you purchase a ticket you also purchase a box of food prepared by Plate it Forward to be enjoyed on the night.
In addition, we're donating the ticket price of every purchase to WILMA Women's Health Centre, to support the health of women here in Sydney fleeing from domestic violence, partner abuse and/or struggling with chronic disease.
For this event, UTS Respect.Now.Always is putting its money where its mouth is - and we hope you will too.
