Uncover the Facts: Discover Roadblocks in Writing
Event description
Writing can be exhilarating—but also intimidating. Join us for a talk for writers and creatives where you’ll uncover what’s really holding you back.
From creative blocks, imposter syndrome and self-doubt to fear of rejection, money pressures, time constraints, marketing obligations and unsupportive people, award-winning author Joanne Zara Ellen Morrell will help writers acknowledge, understand and potentially overcome the challenges that stop so many from putting their work into the world.
This session will help you:
spot internal barriers (e.g. fear of failure, self‑doubt, perfectionism) that choke creative ideas
catch external obstacles (e.g. time constraints, distractions, environment) that interfere with creative flow
gain more creative freedom: once blocks are removed or worked around, ideas tend to flow more easily; you can experiment more since less is held back by fear or uncertainty.
Born in Perth, Western Australia, Joanne is an accomplished writer of fast-paced, emotionally charged contemporary fiction, as well as a podcast host and speaker passionate about uplifting women’s voices. As the creator of The HYBRID Author Podcast, a global four-and-a-half-yearly run show, Joanne champions the creativity and flexibility of a hybrid author career, helping writers navigate the industry with confidence.
Drawing from her own lived experience, Joanne shares practical tips and reassurance that you’re not alone: all writers face fears, but many choose to feel the fear and write anyway. And with the right tools, you can too.
