Uncovered Lives: Music Fundraiser for Trans Healthcare
Event description
After the success of our first fundraiser, the Uncovered Lives crew present to you another electric night of live music at Ric's Backyard, Fortitude Valley! Featuring a lineup of local artists including Hope D, Hallie, Mt Nadir, SAIK and Gay Dad Social Club, this is an event you do not want to miss! Grab your tickets before they sell out and come enjoy an evening of pop and punk for a good cause.
Doors open at 6pm with tickets and ID checked upon entry. THIS IS AN 18+ ONLY EVENT. The live music begins at 7pm and will carry on until 3:30am. Drinks are available at the bar. The night will also feature stalls selling art by local trans artists, as well as opportunities to purchase Uncovered Lives merchandise. All proceeds from this event go towards supporting the trans community, including funding the gender-affirming surgeries of our interview subjects and a donation to the Black Rainbow Foundation.
What is Uncovered Lives? Uncovered Lives is an upcoming documentary that brings to light the innacessability of trans healthcare in Australia, and the damaging effects this can have on transgender Australians. By hearing stories from members of the community, as well as exploring the political and medical sides of the issue, we are advocating for gender-affirming surgeries to be covered by Medicare, and hope to raise an overall awareness about this major injustice that is present in our healthcare system. Throughout the production of this documentary, we hope to raise as much money as possible for our subjects, including the funds for an interviewee's gender-affirming surgery.
