Event description

The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is collaborating with Paris McNeil to bring you a FREE information session on the early December bound Under 16 social media ban.

The Government has raised the minimum age for social media use, effectively banning children under 16 years old from using social media. That means that children under 16 won’t be allowed to access platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, Reddit & Snapchat. Without well-rounded support, this massive shift may leave your kids feeling anxious, disconnected, and overwhelmed.

This session provides people with a clear understanding of the ban, why it’s being implemented, and how it will affect young people within their community. You will learn practical strategies to help young people navigate the transition, manage anxiety, and build healthier habits.

Importantly, this presentation equips you with the tools and language to have conversations and implement boundaries with young people around social media and technology use.

This keynote will equip people with:

  • A clear understanding of the ban and its implications.

  • Strategies to support their children’s transition.

  • Practical tools and resources to foster healthy tech habits.
